Survey Savvy Review Overview
If you look at my catchy title you’ll see the three words that mean the most in any review of a service or product that claims to help you earn extra income: I’ve Made Money.
Like most internet-savvy people out there I have been striving to find ways to bring in extra income for my family for a long time. Also like most internet-savvy people out there I quickly realized that there is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to online income. There are lots of services out there that will steal your information, cause you to receive annoying phone calls or email spam, and then don’t even pay you for your time. Among all of the trash there are a few diamonds though and I believe that Survey Savvy is a legitimate way to make money online in your spare time.
You will NOT make a million dollars a day with the site and you WILL have to put time into doing the surveys, but the fact of the matter is that these types of opportunities are great for someone looking to make a few extra bucks when they would normally just be killing time on the internet anyway.
Survey Savvy is similar to other paid survey sites that I’ve seen, but it also offers a very simple, clean, and easy to use layout. There are no subversive ads, extra tricks to get you to sign up for additional services (except one, kind of, see below), or really anything else besides their survey content. All of your survey opportunities are listed right on the front page after you’ve logged in and once you click on them the amounts and time commitments are easy to find.
Another personally reassuring nugget is that:
Survey Savvy is ran by Luth Research which has been in business since 8/1/1993 and has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
This information is clearly listed on their homepage, which I rarely see for any “online income opportunity” service.
How Do I Get Paid?
Survey Savvy pays it’s participants for a few different things:
- Completed surveys (Usually between $1-$10 each, but as high as $50!)
- Signing up for SavvyConnect with one or more devices
- Using their referral program (more below)
Each survey opportunity offers payments typically ranging from $1-$10 each. Since starting the program I have seen surveys all through this range, but the majority are in the $1-$2 range and take approximately 10 minutes or less to complete. I have completed multiple surveys and earned payment, but it is important to note that you will not always qualify for every survey that they send to you. With most surveys you will start with a few qualifying questions to determine whether or not the survey is relevant to you and that your demographic is one that is being targeted by their clients.
There is really no way around getting disqualified for certain surveys without lying, which I refuse to do. I’m sure there are many people out there that routinely take surveys and provide whatever information they think the survey wants just to get the payment. They may also just blindly click through any of the options in order to get through the survey as quickly as possible to get their money. You can do whatever you want, but remember that this program is a business just like any other and their job is to provide accurate data to their clients. I feel as though it’s important to respect any product or service that is trying to pay you with their own money.
I started the program on 1/1/2016 (Online income New Year’s Resolution, anyone??) and I have received 8 surveys as of the time of this writing (1/16/2016). The average offering for this time period was $8.5 which includes a $50 survey that I did not qualify for. If you exclude that offering then the average offered was $2.25 per survey. This is not a ton of money, but again this type of opportunity is one that can easily be incorporated into your daily routine in order to make some extra money each month in addition to other sources of income.
Signing up with SavvyConnect
As I mentioned before, SavvyConnect offers additional incentives to sign up for their service, both as a new user and as part of their referral program (see below). Assuming that you keep the programs running for 90 days, they will pay you:
- PC/Laptop only = $20
- PC/Laptop + Smartphone = $40
- PC/Laptop + Tablet = $40
- PC/Laptop + Smartphone + Tablet = $60
This reward is earned just for installing the software on your computer and ran in the background while you go on about your routine. It’s a nice bonus and there appears to be no penalty for not keeping the program installed after the 90 period has passed and you’ve received your payment.
Remember though that they do claim you’ll receive more survey opportunities if you have the software installed, so it may still benefit you to keep it running for the long-term.
The Referral Program
Survey Savvy’s referral program works in two main ways:
- SurveySavvy referrals (and their referrals) complete surveys. You will receive an average of $.50 per online survey completion by your referral or their referral!
- Referrals sign up for SavvyConnect. For each project completed, you’ll earn between $5 and $15 if completed by direct referrals or $2 to $6 from indirect referral (referral’s referral)
Whew, I just typed referral a bunch of times!
As mentioned above, it is important to mention in my Survey Savvy review a program that they offer called SavvyConnect. This program provides incentives (up to an extra $60) for you to download their software on your computer and/or smartphones which will give them access to more information about what you are using your computer for during your daily routines. This program is completely optional and is not required to be installed to get survey opportunities. However, they do claim that with the extra data they will be able to find more survey opportunities for you because they will have more information with which to match you with potential client surveys so I think it is important to mention in my Survey Savvy Review. I have participated in this program since starting with the site and I have noticed no slowdowns, problems with websites, etc by having the software on my computer.
What about Privacy?
According to Survey Savvy:
“We are tracking simple usage statistics about your browsing habits online. You simply browse the internet the way you normally would and we track things like how long you spend on a webpage. This data is collected, synthesized, and stored in an aggregated format.”
It should also be noted that they encrypt all of the data retrieved by their program and if you do anything on your computer with an “incognito” browser or “private browsing mode” then the program will stop collecting data for the entire time that you are using it. Also, data that SavvyConnect collects is only referenced in aggregate format and no personally identifiable data or content is provided to third parties.
How Often do I get Surveys?
No good Survey Savvy review would be complete without answering this. This is the million dollar question when it comes to online surveys and I have kept a good record of my past offerings so that I can show a realistic expectation for what you may get. I started the program on 1/1/16 and my actual survey offers were as follows:
- 1/3/16 – $1 survey
- 1/4/16 – $10 survey
- 1/6/16 – $2 survey
- 1/6/16 – $2 survey
- 1/7/16 – $50 survey
- 1/11/16 – $1 survey
- 1/14/16 – $1 survey
- 1/14/16 – $1 survey
As you can see I have received $68 worth of survey offers within a 2 week period. That doesn’t seem half bad to me. Please remember, however, that you WILL NOT qualify for every survey opportunity so you cannot count this amount as actual earnings. Case in point, I sadly did NOT qualify for that juicy $50 survey opportunity. These surveys are created based on the needs of real clients and sometimes you just won’t fit into their demographic, purchase history, etc. I will update the Survey Savvy review periodically with new surveys just to provide a more robust data set.
So, How Did I Get Paid?
There is really only one way to cash out payments with SurveySavvy and that is by check sent via postal mail. They do NOT offer a PayPal option. With that being said, however, they do offer payouts for as little as $1 which is the lowest I’ve ever seen with these types of services. I feel like a lot of them set their payout thresholds at $50-100 so that people will give up before reaching the threshold and they are able to essentially keep the money. Whether or not this is true is up for debate! So, I wanted to be sure that I had some hard evidence that the payouts worked and I requested a $1 payout on 1/15/16. The rest I will leave in the account and “save up” for an amount that can do some damage somewhere in my budget.
Update 1/30/2015: So I received my $1 check in the mail on 1/23/2016 and it was dated on 1/20/2016 which means that their turnaround is actually much quicker than their stated time. Here is a picture of the check just to show a little proof that it works!
Has anyone else had experiences with SurveySavvy and SavvyConnect? Let me know in the comments if this is something that you use in order to make a little online money in your spare time! Are there any other opportunities like this that you would like to explore vicariously through me? Let me know in the comments!
